As ABB 800xA control system communication interface, CI867K01/AK01 can be used to connect an AC 800M controller to external Ethernet devices using Modbus TCP protocol. CI867K01/AK01 expansion unit contains the CEX-Bus logic, a communication unit and a DC/DC converter that supplies appropriate voltages from the +24 V supply via the CEX-Bus. The Ethernet cable must be connected to the main network through an Ethernet Switch.

CI867K01 is discontinued, the successor is CI867AK01, which is functionally equivalent replacement for CI867K01. When install, CI867A is only compatible with 800xA 6.0.3.3 and 6.1.1, Compact Control Builder 6.0.0-3 and 800xA 6.1.1, and onwards. The CI867A are only using one Ethernet port (100 Mbit/s) compared with the earlier CI867.
