DHL and SAIC Maxus join hands to build a new model for low-carbon logistics
Time: August 13, 2025
In April 2025, under the active leadership and efficient coordination of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the Huangpu District People's Government, DHL Group and SAIC MAXUS (a key member of SAIC's commercial vehicle division) held in-depth business negotiations. Focusing on strategic complementarity and mutually beneficial development, the two parties explored broad prospects for cooperation in green logistics and successfully achieved significant results. Building on the success of this collaboration, the two parties held a shipping ceremony today at Shanghai Haitong Terminal for 300 SAIC MAXUS eDELIVER3 (EV30) all-electric delivery vehicles purchased by DHL Group. These vehicles will serve the group's European parcel terminal distribution network. Following the shipping ceremony, the first batch of 100 new vehicles set sail, marking the start of the substantial delivery phase of this collaboration. The remaining vehicles will be shipped in batches. Notably, in line with the concept of green transportation, some of the vehicles will be transported directly to Europe using DHL's intermodal rail services. Rail transport significantly reduces carbon emissions throughout the entire journey and is a key initiative for DHL Group in achieving a sustainable supply chain. This order represents DHL Group's largest purchase of new energy logistics vehicles from a Chinese brand in Europe. Its completion not only significantly expands the group's electric fleet in Europe but also represents a solid step toward its ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Currently, approximately half of DHL Group's last-mile delivery fleet in Germany is fully electric. By 2030, two-thirds of the group's global fleet for first- and last-mile delivery will be electrified. In future, the collaboration between the two parties will go beyond simple vehicle procurement. Leveraging its global network and logistics expertise, DHL will fully assist SAIC MAXUS in optimizing its global supply chain layout, particularly as its electric vehicles accelerate their overseas expansion. DHL will provide efficient and reliable international logistics and supply chain solutions, safeguarding SAIC MAXUS's globalization journey.
