The Bently Nevada 3300 XL Shaft Micrometer, 330186-02, is primarily designed to verify the output signal of a Proximitor Sensor, whether you’re monitoring a rotor shaft or the piston rod of a reciprocating compressor. To use it, first attach a strap to the mounting base, wrap this strap around the target component, and tighten it securely to hold the mounting base in place. From there, a spindle micrometer is used to check the Proximitor Sensor’s output signal—specifically, a probe mounting adapter secures the probe within the mounting base, allowing the micrometer to move the probe toward or away from the target in precise, calibrated increments. A voltmeter is then used to record the output from the Proximitor Sensor.

When using the 3300 XL Shaft Micrometer to generate an output curve for programming a Rod Drop Monitor on a reciprocating compressor, it’s important to use the buffered output signal on the front of the Rod Drop Monitor rather than the direct output signal from the Proximitor Sensor.
