Product Detail

IPC704 244-704-000-042 A2-B03-C100-D100-E5-F10000-G0-H0-I0 Signal Conditioner

Description:
The IPC704 244-704-000-042 A2-B03-C100-D100-E5-F10000-G0-H0-I0 is a configurable signal conditioner designed to process charge-based signals from compatible piezoelectric sensors. It converts the sensor's charge output into a standardized current signal for transmission to downstream monitoring or processing equipment.

This specific configuration is designed for acceleration measurement, using a pC/g input and μA/mm/s output transfer function. It combines a 5 Hz high-pass filter with a 10 kHz low-pass filter, allowing the signal conditioning chain to focus on the required measurement band while reducing unwanted low- and high-frequency components.

The A2 environment option is intended for explosive-atmosphere applications, while the G0 configuration specifies the signal conditioner without an industrial housing. This combination makes the unit suitable for vibration monitoring installations where sensor signal conditioning needs to be performed close to the existing monitoring chain.

Application Value:

For Turbine and Rotating Machinery

Vibration is an important indicator of mechanical condition in turbines, compressors, pumps, and other rotating equipment. A properly configured signal conditioner ensures that the raw sensor signal is converted into a form that the monitoring system can process.

For Long-Distance Signal Transmission

The IPC704 platform can provide current transmission for applications requiring longer signal runs. Available product information indicates that current modulation can support transmission distances of up to 1 km when used with the appropriate galvanic separation arrangement.

This can be useful when sensors are installed close to machinery while monitoring electronics are located elsewhere in the plant.

Application Cases:
1. Turbine Bearing Vibration Measurement
The IPC704 can be connected to compatible CAxxx piezoelectric accelerometers for collecting vibration signals from turbine bearing locations. The conditioned signal can then be transferred to downstream monitoring equipment for machinery condition assessment.
2. Hazardous-Area Monitoring of Compressors and Pumps
With the appropriate explosive-atmosphere configuration, the IPC704 can be integrated into vibration measurement systems for compressors and pumps operating in potentially explosive environments. This makes it suitable for safety-conscious machinery monitoring installations in process industries.
3. Pressure Pulsation Signal Conditioning
When paired with compatible CPxxx dynamic pressure sensors, the IPC704 can convert charge-based pressure signals into current or voltage signals for transmission to subsequent processing electronics. This allows the same signal-conditioning platform to be used for dynamic pressure measurement as well as vibration applications.
4. Distributed Measurement With Extended Signal Runs
The IPC704 supports current-modulated signal transmission over distances of up to 1 km when used with a GSI galvanic separation unit. This configuration can be used when the sensor installation point and signal-processing equipment are located at different positions within an industrial facility.
5. Filtered Signal Processing for Rotating Equipment
The IPC704 provides configurable high-pass and low-pass filtering, with available cutoff settings ranging from 0.5 Hz to 20 kHz across the product configuration. This allows the signal-conditioning stage to be matched to the measurement requirements of compatible piezoelectric sensors used on rotating machinery.

Expert Advice

Do not change the signal-conditioning chain without checking the receiving equipment.

The conditioner works between the piezoelectric sensor and the monitoring system. If the replacement has a different signal conversion or output arrangement, the receiving equipment may no longer interpret the signal as intended. The sensor, conditioner and monitoring device should therefore be considered as one measurement chain.

Check the actual application before changing filter configuration.

Filter settings are part of the measurement function, not simply optional specifications. If the original conditioner has been operating correctly, changing the filtering configuration may alter the vibration information delivered to the monitoring system. Matching the original configuration is generally preferable unless the monitoring requirement itself has changed.
