The tip of the TQ402 111-402-000-012 contains a coil, forming part of an oscillating circuit. When this is excited by a high frequency signal provided by the IQS 45x signal conditioner, a magnetic field is emitted by the coil. If an electrically conducting material is moved into this field, the characteristics of the magnetic circuit change. This causes the amplitude of the high-frequency signal present in the coil to vary. The amplitude is proportional to the distance between the tip of the transducer and the target.
